A literary revolution is quietly taking shape, led by none other than Katlego Rammusa.
Known for his inspiring books, global speaking engagements and unwavering faith, Rammusa has now launched the Ant Thou Sluggard Bookstore at Nkomo Village Mall in Pretoria, aiming to ignite a love of reading where it’s needed most. "Our people are not lazy or ignorant," says Rammusa. "They’ve been denied access. We’re changing that one book at a time."
The bookstore is a bold response to a gap many have ignored for too long: the lack of bookstores in township malls. More than just a commercial venture, it’s a movement to empower communities, uplift local authors, and reshape how literature is accessed across South Africa.
A journey of purpose
Rammusa’s story is one of relentless ambition and unwavering faith. From being Student Representative Council president at Bataung Secondary School to becoming a Microsoft-certified IT professional, and now a published author of 11 books, Rammusa’s path has always been marked by leadership and vision.
His acclaimed works like Born Poor but Rich in Mind and Motswako: The Beginnings, the first hip-hop biography in the Southern Hemisphere, showcase a powerful narrative ability that has captured audiences across radio, television, and international stages. Now, with his bookstore, he extends that impact directly into the heart of the community.
Rammusa is a highly accomplished a biographer, an award-winning prolific author, motivational speaker, thought leader, life strategist, counselor, itinerant minister, as well as PR and IT specialist. Beyond his writing career, he is also a dynamic motivational speaker and businessman. Rammusa holds a National Diploma in Information Technology from the Tshwane University of Technology.
Professionally, he has been recognised for his excellence, receiving the Institutional Support Award at the Tshwane University of Technology for the years 2011/2013 and Leadership Award in 2024. He was nominated for the South African Literary Awards in 2020 and 2023, and Botswana Literature Awards in 2024.
Beyond his career in IT, Rammusa is also a reverend and founder and CEO of Ant Thou Sluggard (Pty) Ltd and Batla. He also owns the KR brand, and apart from Ant Thou Sluggard Bookstore, he is the pioneer behind Ant Thou Sluggard Book Club and owner of Ant Thou Sluggard Media.
A bookstore rooted in faith and hope
Driven by passion, his bookstore aims to spark a culture of reading and critical thinking among township residents. It offers a vibrant space where local and international voices meet. "When people read, they become more sophisticated, knowledgeable, and better equipped for life," says Rammusa.
The bookstore also provides a vital platform for local authors, offering fair distribution deals and economic opportunities often missing from mainstream publishing outlets.
Building dreams, one reader at a time
Beyond selling books, Rammusa sees the Ant Thou Sluggard bookstore as a mission grounded in his signature ATT Method; Action, Timeline, Tangible Results. His work is fueled by deep faith, echoing his belief that hope still exists in a world often marred by disillusionment. "Everything I do begins with faith, the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen," he reflects.
The bookstore is more than shelves and cash registers; it is a living symbol of empowerment, vision, and belief in the unseen potential of every community member who walks through its doors.
