On December 25, Pretoria will echo with the spirit of generosity as volunteers gather for the 5th annual Christmas celebration honouring the late Naboth Phineas Mokhulu Sibanyoni.
The founder of DA KLAN Foundation and co-founder of BrosDoMatter dedicated his life to uplifting those around him, and this festive event serves as a testament to his legacy of giving. From 9am to 1pm, the heartwarming celebration will take place at Nelson Mandela Drive in Arcadia.
This year, the event is a collaborative effort among BrosDoMatter, DA KLAN Foundation, Dodo's Wellness Spa, and Thabiso Seema, a dedicated HIV and Aids activist. The aim is clear: to provide hope and essential support to the homeless and boy child-headed families in the region.
The Christmas celebration aspires to address a pressing issue that often goes unnoticed—the silent struggles faced by men. Many find themselves battling false paternity claims, child support wars, and access denials to their children, leading to emotional trauma and mental health challenges. BrosDoMatter aims to break the stigma surrounding these issues, creating a safe space for men to share their stories and seek support.
"As BrosDoMatter advocates, not every man is a rapist. Not every man is an abuser. Not every man is a human trafficker. Not every boy is on drugs,” said founder and Sibanyoni's widow Emma Sibanyoni. "On Christmas Day, be part of this inspiring initiative that not only honors Phineas's remarkable legacy but actively participates in creating change in our community. Together, we can forge a more inclusive society that offers support to all."
This year, the organisers are calling upon the community to contribute to the cause by donating non-perishable food items, gently used clothing and blankets, food parcels, or financial contributions. These donations will help in preparing warm, nutritious meals for the homeless—offering not just sustenance but a sense of dignity and hope for those enduring hard times.
Sibanyoni added, "We will be cooking and serving a warm Christmas meal to homeless individuals in our community. But our goal is to provide not only a nutritious meal, but also a sense of hope and dignity to those who may be struggling." The event promises to be a heartening reminder that kindness and community spirit can prevail even amidst personal and broader societal challenges.
