Families in the Free State are seeking the public's assistance in locating two missing individuals who disappeared without a trace.
The police have subsequently launched a campaign to find them and are urging anyone with information regarding their whereabouts to come forward.
The first case involves Charles Kgogo, a mentally-challenged man who was last seen at his home in Bochabela on 26 December 2024 around 5pm. Kgogo reportedly left home without informing anyone, which has left his family deeply concerned. Despite extensive efforts to locate him, they have unfortunately been unsuccessful. His absence was formally reported on 14 January 2025 at the Mangaung Police Station.
At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing black track pants, a black t-shirt, and distinctive black and white Adidas sneakers. His family, who has been frantically searching, is pleading with the public for any leads that might assist in finding him. Individuals with any information are urged to contact Lieutenant Colonel Lebodi at 082 527 6348 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111. Anonymous tips can also be submitted via the MySAPS app.
In a separate case, 14-year-old Siyanda Kalk from Matwabeng near Senekal has also gone missing. Siyanda left her home on 10 January 2025, reportedly in search of her biological father. Dressed in pink pumps, black jeans, and a short-sleeve t-shirt, she was last seen carrying a pink Puma bag. Her family has been unable to reach her, compounding their worry, as Siyanda does not own a cellphone.
The local community has been urged to remain vigilant and report any sightings or potential information regarding Siyanda’s whereabouts. Detective Captain Calvert of Senekal can be contacted directly at 082 466 7635, and the public is again encouraged to report any information anonymously through Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
The families of both Kgogo and Siyanda are desperate for answers and appeal to the community's sense of solidarity in these troubling times. Both cases highlight the importance of unity in ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable members of society.
