The Yes4Chess initiative, led by dedicated coaches Christiaan Linde, Azile Jack, Boipelo Mkotong and “Shepherd”, has played a crucial role in fostering a strong chess culture at Oos-Moot. The PUK Chess Series not only showcased the expertise but also highlighted the unwavering support from the school and local community.

Competitive spirit and strategic play
From the outset, the team approached the tournament with realistic yet confident expectations. Malaba explained their extensive preparations, which included focused training throughout the first term, refining opening strategies, and engaging in friendly matches with their mentors.
One of the tournament’s most memorable moments came during the semi-final clash against Waterkloof, where Oos-Moot’s grit and strategic play secured a decisive victory. “That day represented not just a victory, but a testament to our hard work,” Malaba reflected.
