The National Press Club (NPC) has issued a poignant appeal to the public, urging anyone with information regarding the disappearance of journalist Aserie Ndlovu and his partner Zodwa Mdhluli to come forward.
This concerning case has entered its 12th day, with both individuals reportedly missing since February 18, 2025. Ndlovu, a respected committee member of the NPC and founder of Capital Live SA FM 99.0 FM, was last seen leaving Denlyn Mall in Mamelodi at approximately 6pm on that Tuesday. Witnesses recall his distinct attire: blue jeans, a blue and white long-sleeve shirt, and a pair of Nike sneakers. His partner, Zodwa Mdhluli, is also unaccounted for.
Under Ndlovu's leadership, Capital Live SA FM has become a influential voice in South African media, known for its fearless reporting and community engagement. His disappearance has sent shockwaves through the journalism community and raised concerns about press freedom in the region.
The NPC has expressed its unwavering support for the families of Ndlovu and Mdhluli during this harrowing time. "The anguish that has engulfed their loved ones is painful and troubling," reads a statement from the NPC.
The Gauteng police, along with private sector security companies, are diligently working to resolve this case. The National Press Club has acknowledged the collaborative efforts of key figures in law enforcement, including the Deputy Provincial Commissioner: Crime Detection Gauteng, Major General Mbuso Khumalo, and the Tshwane District Commissioner Major General Samuel Thine. Significant mention is made of the detectives in Mpumalanga, particularly Colonel Johannes Kgomo and his team, who are assisting with intelligence-led investigations under Major General Josias Lekalakala.
Meanwhile, the NPC held a media briefing in Pretoria on 2 March 2025, where Ndlovu’s uncle, legendary musician Vusi Mahlasela and Comfort Mdhluli made an appeal for help on behalf of the affected families.
